Dog is a sensitive animal that have coat of fur around their body, this will allow them to feel the heat easily. In summer, your dog will really feel the heat and prone to heat stroke if you don’t take care of them. Keeping your dog cool is vital because heat stroke is a life-threatening condition. You can check the sign of your dog getting heat stroke, such aspanting excessively, moving sluggishly, woozy, and even losing consciousness. There are many ways to ensure that your dog keep cool during hot weather, you can try to get cooling dog vest, give them ice cream or another way. However, to ensure that you are capable to cool your dog in safe way, today I will provide you a step by step guide on how to make your dog cool during hot weather especially in summer.

The first step is make sure that you are providing constant access to water. You will need that you keep a filed water bowl near your dog. Make sure to frequently filled water bowl, I recommend you to get bigger bowl or simply get a few bowls to ensure that your dog are able to drink easily and quickly. If your dog keep drinking water, then make sure that you are set up a small wading pool or place that can be use for your dog to jump into water and keep his cool. Don’t build a pool that are too deep because your dog could drown. If you take your walk out, make sure to bring a water container or bottle and ensure that you give your dog frequently. Otherwise, you can simply pour the water over its body when your dog feels hot.

The next step is make sure that you keep your dog cool using various ways. Since your home will be the best place to cool your house, make sure to keep your dog indoors. Therefore, make sure that you leave air conditioning on your house on and leave it on during the day while your dog is alone. Make sure to set your air conditioning between 78 and 80 degrees. However, you can bring your dog into the coolest place in your home, such as your basement. Giving your dog a cooling pad is a good idea for your dog to cooling down, a great cooling pad is the one filled with a gel that draws the heat out from your dog body. If your dog are having thick and long coats, make sure that you groom your dog. However, make sure not to shave the dog completely to avoid the chances of sunburn. One of the most important things is make sure to watch your dog’s condition closely, if there is symptoms of heatstroke make sure to get water and cool it down. Otherwise if the symptoms continue, you can consult with doctor or get cooling vest for your dogs. This way, your dog will be able to keep cool even in the hottest summer.
